For this project, we had to research a problem that currently faces or world and them come up with a solution to that problem. The problem that my group came up with was keeping healthy while living with diabetes. We decided to fix this issue by creating an "app" or application for mobile devices in order to help you regulate what you eat and how much you exercise. We quickly realized that creating an app would be impossible in a reasonable amount of time though because none of us knew how to program. Instead, we created a google sheets that would show off the calculations aspect of the project and a website to show off the user interface of the project. In the sheets we created a point system based on how you eat and challenges that are optional based on exercise. The motivation for users to do this would be to stay healthy and we would have a system where you could have friends through the app and compete for the most points weekly. The website has a few things including a background about diabetes and a few healthy recipes for people who don't know any healthy things to eat.
Concepts: Our chosen topic did not really have any specific concepts. It was more of a conceptual project, replacing calculations with research about what is the average allowable sugar intake for a diabetic.
Reflection: This project was somewhat difficult because the project did come with it's own sets of hardship. The first problem was the research, it was difficult to find hard data about the limits of diabetics. The second hardship was that we had to learn to use different interfaces such as google sheets and weebly websites. But there were some good parts. firstly I learned a lot more about diabetes as a disease and how I can prevent myself from getting it. Secondly I learned how to use google sheets which most definitely could become an effective tool for future projects. All in all this was a fun project that I think the class next year will greatly enjoy.
