Overview
For this project, my group was tasked with creating a board game that incorporated a few different chemical reactions. The reactions had to include In the beginning, we were given those instructions and given a period to come up with a theme and start brainstorming reactions to do. By the end of the period, we came up with a theme of Zootopia, based on the well known kids' movie. We ended up splitting the map into six sections, each painted with a different color. We wanted to incorporate the large cityscape shown in the movie. To accomplish this, we cut out and built some cardboard buildings, which we later turned into a shortcut. We painted squares across the board and players would take turns rolling a die and moving that number of spaces forward. We designated certain squares as chemical reaction squares and when you passed one, we would perform a chemical reaction.

Terminology
Synthesis Reaction: A reaction in which two or more ions combine to make one compound.
Decomposition Reaction: A reaction in which one compound is broken up into multiple ions.
Single Replacement Reaction: A reaction in which a compound and an ion combine to produce a different ion and compound combination.
Double Replacement Reaction: A reaction in which two compounds combine and swap an\ions to create to different compounds.
Combustion Reaction: A reaction in which an organic compound and oxygen yield water and carbon dioxide.

Reflection
This project, in conclusion, was a good one. It was very fun using power tools and things like that which I have not been able to do in STEM since freshman year physics. The chemical reactions were also very cool, at least at first, until them became a little boring near the end. This project also did not end up being too difficult partly because my group chose some of the easier reactions. It was satisfying watching the board coming together, with the paint and the buildings and the pieces. We were also afforded a lot of creativity due to the looseness of the rules and that allowed us to come up with an idea like Zootopia. The presentation night itself went relatively smoothly, with only one presentation actually failing, so I would say it was a successful night. I liked my group a lot as well so that helped. We all pitched in and did our parts and the project was better because of it. This project was a relatively good first project for the year and makes me excited for the next one.
